The Chalkidian League was a federation of Greek cities in northern Greece led by Olynthos. Its silver coins showed Apollo, god of music, light and prophecy, with his lyre, and were admired for their fine style. The League was ended in 348 BC when Philip II of Macedon captured and destroyed Olynthos.
